Kamencové jezero (Alum Lake) is a unique natural formation and recreation area in the town of Chomutov. The lake was created at the beginning of the 19th century by the flooding of an alum slate mine.

The project involves the long-term restoration and development of the lake. Implementation will be carried out gradually in several phases. In 2023, the construction of the entrance area from Přemyslova Street with the city beach and the entrance from Mostecká Street was completed.

We remove barriers, interconnect places and activities.

Individual parts of the area and its surroundings developed for a long time without a unified concept. They often conflict with each other rather than exist in harmony.

We are simplifying operations and interconnections so that individual parts relate to each other, support each other and create a unified whole. At the same time, we try to give new life to places that are neglected.

We are creating a quality public space.

We are transforming parking lots and cluttered and unused spaces into a multifunctional public space offering a range of activities for different groups of residents.

We propose different characters and levels of public spaces, from a paved square accessible to everyone all day, to a natural swimming pool with its own opening hours and operating rules. Each space offers a different level of social interaction and privacy.

We are restoring valuable historical buildings, removing unsuitable deposits and complementing current buildings.

Historical buildings from the early 20th century give the area a unique nostalgic feel. We want to clean up and restore this authentic architectural character.

We propose adding new buildings with a contemporary architectural form with an emphasis on spatial and functional simplicity. We use simple, high-quality materials so that new buildings last as long as historical ones.
